Short Bio
Born in Tokyo, Saki Tozawa is a member of the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic, and simultaneously pursuing a Master’s degree at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Nora Chastain.
At age 15, Saki became the youngest winner of the 85th Japan Music Competition. She achieved further successes in international competitions, including 2nd prize (highest placement) at the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition. She also received the Oleg Kagan Memorial Fund scholarship at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival.
She has performed as soloist with orchestras including the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Lübeck Philharmonic, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.
Saki studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts and completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Lübeck Academy of Music. She received violin instruction from Natsumi Tamai, Gérard Poulet and Daniel Sepec and masterclasses from Leonidas Kavakos, Vadim Repin, and Ana Chumachenco.
